Dear Rappers: When you make it big, PLEASE do yourself a favor and pay your taxes. Unlike your possible previous “hustle,” the music industry is not a cash business. You may think you’re “gangsta,” but the IRS is more gangsta than you will ever be. This has been a public service announcement from your friends at @ZonaDeSabor.

TMZ is reporting that Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena, who made millions as part of the Terror Squad (and has recently enjoyed a new surge of popularity thanks to songs like “Yellow Tape”), has just plead guilty to tax evasion in Federal court. According to the charges, Cartagena owes close to $700,000 in back taxes, thanks to not paying them in 2007 & 2008.
He is currently free on $250,000 bond, and is scheduled to be sentenced in April. It is possible he could face up to two years in prison.
